LUMIKO IMAI

LUMIKO IMAI

Composition / Voice

Born in Chigasaki, Shonan. Singer-songwriter and beatmaker.

She began performing her own songs at local clubs in 1997, and in 2000 sang on the Toshiba-EMI compilation “TRIBUTE TO BAD BRAINS”. Since 2008 she has written and sung commercial songs and theme songs.

From 2010 she also worked as a jazz singer in jazz bars in Tokyo and Yokohama. She has taken part in records by the hip-hop artist Dengaryu, and toured Jamaica with reggae singer Macka Ruffin as a member of the band project Yellokings, alongside many live shows, festivals and recording sessions in Japan and abroad.

In 2023 she released “LUMIKO IMAI 2015-2022”, a six-track EP including previously unreleased songs. It reached No. 4 on the iTunes Store R&B/Soul Top Albums chart in Japan (14 February 2023).

In Dcloud she writes the music and sings. For “motoise”, the theme song of Motoise Naiku Kotai Shrine, she wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals.

Production / Remix

He started out as DJ sanericci in 1997, working in clubs and lounges and also selecting and producing music for radio.

He later moved into club PA work (rigging and operation) and mobile DJ sets built from equipment he brings himself; over 25 years he has handled sound on site. Since 2010 he has also broadcast his DJ sets online.

He now works from his home studio in Kumano, Mie, producing music and sound design for film, space and brand. He is the founder of sanericci cafe.

In Dcloud he handles arrangement, production, mixing and mastering — finishing one-of-a-kind pieces for inns, shrines and branded rice.
